'Hampstead' Solid Hornbeam Wooden Floating Shelf

A handmade solid wooden shelf from our sustainable London tree collection.

The Hampstead shelf is made from spalted hornbeam, the hardest of all English woods, used throughout history to make everything from windmill cogs to Roman chariots.

The hornbeam hardwood is milled from a single tree on The Bishops Avenue in Hampstead, often referred to as Billionaire's Row. Only a limited number of shelves are available from this single tree, made-to-order in a range of lengths, with the option of pre-drilled holes and floating brackets for invisible mounting. The Hampstead is part of the Fallen & Felled London Tree collection, furniture we make sustainably from trees felled in and around London due old age or to make space for development. We salvage these trees - which would otherwise be burned - milling them into timber and giving them a second life as quality furniture.

Each shelf is marked on the end with the Fallen & Felled logo, and comes with a certificate of provenance.

Please note - this is a natural product and no one shelf will be exactly like the example on the photograph. We make every shelf to order and will happily show you a photo of the board before we craft it into your finished shelf.

Our shelves are handmade to order and delivered to UK addresses by courier within four weeks of purchase. 

Collection
Alternatively, you can pick up your shelves from our shop in Walthamstow, London. Please add a note to your order requesting collection, before checking out. We will email you when your order is ready to collect. Our shop is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am - 4pm.
