A stunning centrepiece for GAIL’s new Southwark flagship bakery 🥐
This beautiful table was crafted by Goldfinger using timber locally sourced by us from a Black Poplar tree felled just two miles away on Old Kent Road.
GAIL’s most sustainable bakery yet, every detail of its interior – housed in the former London Fire Brigade HQ – has been designed with reuse, environmental responsibility and wellbeing in mind.
Most felled trees in London are chipped and burned, losing all their stored carbon. But this one found a second life. We milled and seasoned the timber into boards, now transformed into a table built to last.
It’s inspiring to see brands like GAIL’s championing sustainability – embracing locally sourced, repurposed materials, working with eco-conscious designers like Goldfinger, and creating spaces that uplift and inspire.
We’ve loved collaborating with Goldfinger on many projects – a West London B Corp and social enterprise dedicated to crafting timeless furniture for homes and workspaces, while training the next generation of makers.
